2010 BMW 7-Series Gets The M Treatment
Up until the end of last year BMW was in the process of developing a brand new performance saloon positioned above the current 2009 7-Series flagship and destined to enter the premium four-door coupe segment. Then the global economic crisis hit and on the back of weak financial results BMW decided not to risk the launch of such an expensive model. Instead, the automaker chose to focus on its existing 7-Series, in part with the new M Sport Package officially revealed today.
The M Sport Package includes the typical exterior upgrades to give a sharper, sportier appearance, along with interior upgrades to enhance the driver-car interface. New pieces include a BMW M shifter, M steering wheel and M footrest. Carbon-fiber trim is also available.
In combination with the M Sport Package, the customer also has the choice of exclusive paintwork in Carbon Black Metallic, apart from six other body colors all available as an option. Completing the look is a set of 19-in M light-alloy wheels in a double-spoke design, or optional 20-in units. And last but not least, the electronically controlled BMW Dynamic Drive also comes in the M Sport Package for the 7-Series.
Other models in the BMW fleet available with an M Sport Package include the 1-, 3-, and 5-Series, as well as the X5, which TheCarConnection drives in two weeks.
Sadly, it appears rumors of a high-performance M7 super-sedan have been proven unfounded as this new styling pack is only a minor upgrade to the standard car.

The New Minimalism: Volkswagen Eos, White Knight Edition
In these sobering Economic Times, when everyone speaks of cutting back and 80s-minimal retro is hot hot hot, is it any surprise that Volkswagen would launch a grayscale version of its Eos convertible? Nein, fräulein.
Based on photos alone, the Eos White Knight looks awfully nice--short and sturdy, but also refined, thanks to its blacked-out roof panel, grill, and side mirrors. Even with the glossy hardtop in place, the White Knight seems sleek and sporty, like a convertible should. On the inside, the minimal theme continues, with abundant black leather and contrasting seams. Under the hood: no changes to speak of.
The White Knight edition isn't available stateside--which is probably good, since "white knights" on this side of the pond can have unpleasant connotations. If it ever makes the leap, expect the White Knight to clock in somewhat higher than the American Eos' starting price of $31,615. Right now, the White Knight will set you back 33,140 ($46,500), which is a little higher than our minimalist budget will allow.

The new Eos White Night loves contrast
Refined black-and-white contrast for discerning drivers
Wolfsburg, 28 May 2009 - The new Eos White Night embraces the contrast of black and white: the body is white, while elements such as the roof, radiator grille and mirror covers are black. This special model can be ordered starting now.
The Eos White Night provides an interesting set of contrasts, including exterior paintwork in "Candy White", a roof painted in "Deep Black Pearlescent" and cherry-red LED tail lights. A number of details in black such as the mirror covers, radiator grille and trim strips enhance the appeal of this special model. 18-inch "Budapest" wheels partially painted black with a polished finish complete the elegant appearance of the Eos White Night.
The light and dark accents continue in the interior: the black nappa leather seats, door and side trim and black steering wheel feature light-coloured seams. There are also trim strips and radio trim in "Candy White". Sill panel strips lettered with "White Night" showcase this special model.
Convenience elements such as the "Climatronic" climate control system, sports chassis lowered 15 mm and heated front seats come as standard in the Eos White Night. The Eos White Night starts from 33,140 and can be combined with all engine versions except for the V6.
